Letter to Riccardo Aragno about A Clockwork Orange
Private correspondence

Italian newspaper La Stampa published on February 25, 1996, an anonymous piece that revealed Kubrick wasn't satisfied with the Italian version of A Clockwork Orange and that he didn't want his film to be released in the home-video marked in the dubbed version.

This information was completely false and Stanley Kubrick wrote two letters to Riccardo Aragno, who had translated the script into Italian and had collaborated with Mario Maldesi in the dubbing process. This letter is the second one sent by Kubrick a few days after the first.

Letter to Riccardo Aragno
by Stanley Kubrick

Dear Riccardo,

The story about the Clockwork Orange dubbing is a complete nonsense. I have always used the Italian dub as an example of how good a dubbing can be. My best to you and Mario.

Stanley
