On February 25, 1996, an Italian newspaper published a piece which reported false information about the Italian dubbed version of A Clockwork Orange. The journalist wrote that Kubrick wasn't happy with the dubbed versions of his film, including the Italian one, and that he wanted his film to be distributed for the home-video market only in its original English version with subtitles.

This article hadn't any basis in truth and could possibly damage the reputation of Riccardo Aragno and Mario Maldesi, who realized the Italian version of the film. Stanley Kubrick wrote two letters to his friend Aragno, reassuring that he was indeed more than happy with the work they did. The following is the first letter.
